Melinda N. Deel has been practicing law since 2001. She provides quality legal services with an emphasis on goal-driven representation. Her primary areas of practice include: Estate Planning (Wills, Trusts, Durable Powers of Attorney, and Patient Advocate Designations); probate; Family Law (Divorce, Custody, Child Support, Guardianships and Conservatorships); Juvenile Law (Juvenile Delinquency and Child Protective Proceedings); and Appeals.
Melinda Deel is a graduate of Michigan State University – James Madison College and Michigan State University Detroit College of Law.
There are very few attorneys with the broad and distinguished experience of Melinda Deel. In law school, Melinda clerked for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Lansing, assisting in the prosecution of drug crimes and Medicaid fraud. Following law school, Melinda formed her own law practice. She was later joined by her husband and formed Deel & Deel, PLLC. In 2007, Melinda was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the Oakland County Bar Association. The same year, she was appointed the Judicial Staff Attorney for the Honorable Martha D. Anderson, Oakland County Circuit Court Judge. In 2009, Melinda resigned her position to spend time with her twin sons and resumed solo practice.
In 2014, Melinda was elected to the Oakland County Bar Association’s Board of Directors. She was re-elected to a three year term in 2015. On August 25, 2015, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder appointed Melinda to the Governor’s Task Force on Child Abuse and Neglect.
EXPERIENCED
Melinda Deel knows her way around the courtroom. She has experience on all sides of the bench. She has served as defense counsel, Lawyer-Guardian Ad Litem, independent prosecutor and staff attorney to a judge.
